Every listing comes from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), Long-Term Care Regulation: the Directory of Assisted Living Facility Providers with an Active License (as of October 22, 2026), the HHSC nursing facility and home and community support services agency directories, and each facility's record in the HHSC TULIP Long-Term Care Provider Search (inspection findings and administrative penalties), pulled October 24, 2026.
We refresh the data monthly. Facilities do not pay to be listed, and nothing here is a rating. Last updated: October 24, 2026.
59 assisted living facilities in Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall and Medina counties hold an HHSC Alzheimer's certification, covering 1,922 certified beds, per the HHSC directory as of October 22, 2026.
31 are dedicated memory care buildings where every licensed bed is certified; the rest are assisted living communities with a certified memory care wing.
In Texas, memory care is not its own license. It is an assisted living license, almost always Type B, plus an HHSC Alzheimer's certification that covers a set number of beds.
A facility without that certificate should not advertise a dedicated Alzheimer's unit, even if it accepts residents with mild memory loss.

Pay closest attention to findings about supervision, resident rights and abuse or neglect, which matter most for residents who cannot report problems themselves.
